Hey there!
I'm Martin, the person behind TypeCount. I run a web agency called Šikulovi s.r.o. in the Czech Republic, where we build websites, e-commerce stores, and various web applications.
Like most people who work with content, I've spent countless hours checking character limits, counting words, and making sure my text fits within platform constraints. Twitter's 280 characters, meta descriptions under 160 characters, LinkedIn post limits... you know the drill.
I got tired of switching between different tools and tabs. So I built TypeCount - one tool that does everything I need. Word count, character count, platform limits, readability analysis, all in one place.
Why I built this
I'm not going to pretend I'm some productivity guru. I'm just a developer who writes a lot of content and got frustrated with the existing tools. Most word counters are either too simple (just word count) or too complicated (features I'll never use).
TypeCount is what I actually need: fast, free, works offline, and respects my privacy. Everything runs in your browser - nothing gets sent to any server. I built it for myself first, then realized others might find it useful too.
What I do when I'm not coding
When I'm not building websites or tweaking TypeCount, you can find me experimenting with various productivity techniques (with mixed success), playing board games, or trying not to procrastinate. I also run occasionally - parkrun is a good motivator.
